Lots going on...

Wow, lots has been happening since my last post.

Isaac finished his first year at PDO, and he was terribly sad to be done for the summer. He really loved his teacher, Mrs. Christie, and all his friends there. Mrs. Christie made a scrapbook for me of his year at school. In it, she asks him what he wants to be when he grows up, and he replied "a doctor...no, a cowboy...no, a doctor AND a cowboy!" :)

We're having a fun summer so far. Isaac is getting to ride the tube this year with Daddy. He LOVES it! He ain't skeered! We started him off riding lying down, but as soon as he saw someone else riding sitting up, he wanted to try that. Now he doesn't even want to hold on! Ben says he might even let him try tandem wakeboarding this year. Isaac may not be skeered, but Momma is!!!

Our baby girl, Piper Jo, is growing and beginning to kick more and more. Ben likes to poke and prod at my belly at night to try and make her kick. Early last month, I had an appendicitis scare (turns out it was just a pulled muscle from coughing for a few days). Didn't seem to bother her at all.

Now, I've got another health issue to overcome. Isaac got Fifth Disease about a month ago, probably from school. He had what I thought was a 24 hour bug back then, with fever and vomiting. A few days later, I came down with a fever that lasted for 3 days. Then suddenly last week, Isaac popped up with a severe rash that, thankfully, didn't bother him or itch, just looked really bad. After 3 days of it getting progressively worse and worse, and having that signature "slapped cheek" look, I took him to the doctor to confirm. He had Fifth Disease. It's really harmless, just an infection that's contagious, which turns into a rash about 3-4 weeks later.

Well, once he was diagnosed, I had to call my doctor about me and Piper, because it can have implications for her. I had a blood test done last week, and got the results today. I am positive for having Fifth Disease recently. If I had had it sometime when I was a kid, there would be nothing to worry about. But apparently I've never had it until recently when Isaac must have given it to me. So, they have decided I need to come in for weekly ultrasounds for 8 weeks to monitor little Miss Piper. From what I understand (from things I've read online), they will be checking her fluid levels, my amniotic fluid levels, as well as checking her for anemia. I, recently, was told my Iron levels are low, so I know I am somewhat anemic. I'm now taking Iron supplements to help correct that problem.

All that to say that, we'll be keeping a close eye on her to make sure it is not adversely affecting her. I am a worry-wort, just like my Granny was, so I tend to think about it more than I probably should. I know without a doubt that God has me and her in His hands, and that we both will be fine. I would appreciate your prayers as well, though. I'll be sure to update as we have each ultrasound.

On a positive note - I get to see my angel every week! And I've only got 14 weeks to go before I get to meet her!!!!
